Thanks to an initiative by the teaching chairs of clinical psychology of the Faculty of Psychology 1 at the “Sapienza” University of Rome and of “Federico II” University of Naples, for over a year two groups of psychologists, both academics and professionals working in the public Services or in private practice, have been meeting in Rome and Naples to produce and discuss reports and to carry out research into reporting as a methodology for the clinical psychology intervention. The initiative is closely related to the activities of the Rivista di Psicologia Clinica, which is interested in promoting knowledge and dialogue on reporting, commonly used in professional practice and held to be of central importance, but underexplored in the scientific literature.
The two working groups continued their debate in the “Study Days on reporting as an intervention method in Clinical Psychology”, held in Rome on 16 and 17 May 2008 in the auditorium of the Department of Dynamic and Clinical Psychology of Psychology 1, inviting those who had shared their ideas and experiences of reporting in other contexts.
During the meeting, experiences with reporting in clinical psychology education were examined. In this issue of the Rivista we will present these experiences in the form in which they were reformulated after the intense debate that accompanied every stage of the Study Days.
The Study Days also saw the participation of a historian and an anthropologist, who were asked to give their viewpoint on the question of reporting; the discussants were psychologists. It was therefore possible to continue with the methodological reflection with the added value of these contributions, which we will publish in the next issue of the Rivista.
